H23 new year’s eve get together (Vaaldam)

It’s one month to go until new year’s eve and time to start planning the jawl of the year. Let’s put our heads together and come up with something that suits all who would like to be there.

Options 1:  Some of us H23 ers that are moored at Bayshore are thinking of motoring out into the open in close proximity to the island and dropping anchor and forming a cluster of boats. Food, wine and song with fireworks at 12 on the dot.

For those of you yachties that have an hour’s sailing to get there, you are welcome to sail over to Bayshore Marina while there is still daylight and moor at one of the walk on moorings. We have full ablution facilities,  restaurant , swimming pool and inflatable slide for the kids. The plan will be to sail (motor) out at about 9:30 p.m. in a flotilla and re-group at a suitable spot until 12:30 a.m. Motor back after the jawl to Bayshore and spend the night on the moorings. In the morning, have a full breakfast at the restaurant before you sail back to your own club.

If the weather does’nt  permit this, there is always the club house.

Ok so that’s option one.

Any other ideas that we can all look at?

Let this be an opportunity for all the H23 folk to get together.

PRESENT:

Frank Stuyck, Johan Hartman, Brian Cole, Gordon Fitzimons, Coenie Thiart and Patrick Knobel.

EASTER “FUN WORLDS” 2009

1.         What worked well:

·         Catering by Port Owen YC

·         Club facilities

·         Moorings

·         The mooring of H23’s together on one spot contributed to the weekend’s spirit. Racing – organising, committee boat, rubber duck, bridge – very good.

·         The prize giving on Sunday night instead of Monday morning worked well.

·         The prizes and fines given – very good

2.         What to attend to next time:

·         Extend an invite to all Port Owen YC members to be part of the weekend and let them pay an entry fee to be part of the regatta.

·         T – Shirts. On the entry form state that all entrees will be supplied with a large or medium shirt and that any other sizes to be ordered before a cut off time, because it takes about 10 days to make the shirts.

·          Shelley point harbour not the ideal overnight place because of the rocks etc.

o       To in future if a overnight stop will take place there again to make sure that everyone knows beforehand of all hazards.

o       To perhaps moor on anchor with a stern line to shore and provide a ferry service

3.         The following ideas was put forward:

4.         The big question?
